California Guitar Trio Sent into Orbit!
Space Shuttle Musical crew wake-up calls are a tradition that began during the Skylab program in the 1970s. The tradition continues on the shuttle as the flight controllers in the Mission Control Center awaken the crew from its sleep shift. Each day during the mission, flight controllers will greet the crew with an appropriate musical interlude. One morning for the STS-99 Red Team wakeup call, flight day 10 to be specific, while orbiting the earth, Walk Don't Run by California Guitar Trio was aired to the sleepy crew.

According to the flight plan, they would have been awakened at around 22:00 GMT on February 20, 2000 to the upbeat strains of our stellar string players. The music was sent up by CAPCOM CGT fan, Dr. Steve Robinson. Steve plays guitar for the astronaut band, Max-Q.

Many thanks to Sandra Prow for notifying the CGT and providing the excellent background information about STS-99 and the CGT wakeup call.
